Raised in a family of working musicians, Burns spent his childhood in the Irish county of Donegal surrounded by singers and instrumentalists. “It was never about one specific musician,” he remembers. “It was about listening and learning. It was about playing a song, then passing the guitar to the person beside you, and hearing them play a song, too. There was no ego involved.”

​Burns burst onto the national scene with the release of his 2019 debut album, North Country, an album praised by Rolling Stone, CMT, American Songwriter, Billboard, No Depression, and more. In 2021, Danny released the Hurricane EP, teaming up with the incomparable Steve Earle, Jerry Douglas, Sarah Jarosz, Sam Bush, and Tim O’Brien.
