Sharon Mannion is an Irish comedian and writer best known for her role as ‘Concepta’ in the IFTA winning RTE 2/UKTV GOLD/HULU hit comedy, ‘Bridget & Eamon’.
Sharon recently won a Writers Guild of Ireland Zebbie Best Radio Script Award for her RTE Radio 1 play ‘Stuck’, and the radio version of her highly successful one-woman comedy show ‘The Curse of the Button Accordion’ was nominated for a Celtic Media Award in 2019. She also recently wrote and recorded, ‘Treading Water’ with Sideline Productions for RTE Radio 1 as part of their highly successful Comedy Showhouse series.
Sharon performs as a stand up at clubs and festivals all over Ireland and the UK including The Cat Laughs Comedy Festival – Kilkenny, Paddy Power Comedy Festival - Iveagh Gardens Dublin, Vodafone Comedy Carnival, Galway, So Funny Festival, Sligo and she is the weekly host of The Comedy Cellar at the International Bar, the longest running comedy club in Ireland.

Sharon Mannion is a worrisome child….
Sharon worries about the end of the world; about giant meteorites hurtling from the sky and destroying everything in their path, starting with Roscommon. She worries about failing to live up to the high standards set by her ex-showband father and Midwest FM radio-loving mother. After finding an old tin whistle and discovering she can play, an hysteria of local attention ignites her desire to strive for musical stardom. With the encouragement of her parents, and because her name sounds a lot like Sharon Shannon, that shot at the bigtime arrives in the form of a button accordion. Sharon immediately falls in love with the exotic instrument.
Sharon is the talk of the town. She names it Frank and he becomes her comfort, her solace, her friend.But beautiful beginnings soon crack under the pressure of competition. Sharon’s fingers begin to slip from their notes and with horror, she realises this evil contraption is hell bent on her destruction.
That Frank the Accordion might even have her cursed...
The Curse of the Button Accordion, a one woman show written by Sharon Mannion, is an Irish-centric musical comedy tale of a young girl growing up in rural Co Roscommon, but dreaming of more. After an extensive nationwide tour, the radio version was nominated for a Celtic Media award in 2019.
